Boat Operators License
Persons born after January 1, 1989, and operating a motorized vessel of more than 8.5 horsepower, require a boater certification operator's license. The TWRA is charged with the enforcement of this TN State law. The Boating Safety Course and Certification Exam will be held in the Erwin Marine Sales Showroom on the following dates and time:
Monday April 14 and Tuesday April 15 from 6 to 8 PM for the classes with the Exam given on Thursday April 17 at 6 - 8 PM.
Persons wishing to attend these classes must first purchase a Type 600 Boating Safety Exam Permit for $10. This can be purchased at any Sporting Goods Store selling fishing licenses. (i.e. Wal-Mart). You will need a driver's license or social security number. Bring this Permit with you to the class. After passing the Certification Exam, this Exam Permit will be stamped that evening and it will serve as a temporary license until you receive the official one in the mail. There are no other costs associated with this class and Exam. If you are attending, please come a few minutes early on Monday for registration.
Attendees will receive a free personal study book. Boating safety and the "rules of the road" will be reviewed on Monday and Tuesday. The Exams given on Thursday evening will be scored before the attendee leaves.
