Is food allowed on the boat?
Yes, we suggest bringing a cooler with water and snacks for your day out on the water. Grills are not permitted on the rental boats at any time.
How will I know where it is best to go with the boat?
All rental boats have charts designating permitted areas.
How much fuel does the boat use? How much does it take to fill the tank?
It depends on how much weight, how hard boat is run (RPMs), and how far the boat is run.
Do the boats have restrooms?
No, the rental boats do not have restrooms. However, restrooms are available at all Erwin Boat Rentals locations.
How many people will the boat accommodate?
Cruiser 23′ 12 People Max

Do boats provide any shade from the sun?
Do the boats have stereos?
Yes, the rental boats have stereo units with AM/FM stereo, Bluetooth, and auxiliary capability.
What should I bring?
Sunscreen, towels, cooler, ice, and drinking water. It is also a good idea to bring a fully charged cell phone in case of emergencies.
What items are included with my boat rental?
How do I cancel or reschedule my rental reservation?
Cancellations must be submitted in writing to [email protected] or mailed to Erwin Boat Rentals at 3001 Kings Point Road, Chattanooga, TN 37416.
What happens if I cancel or reschedule my reservation?
Erwin Boat Rentals will attempt to reschedule or refund reservations canceled 7 days or more prior to the date of the reservation.
Cancellations between 7 days and 24 hours of the reservation will receive a partial refund minus $200.
Cancellations within 24 hours of the reservation will be charged the full amount of the rental.
Renters who do not cancel and do not show up on the date of their reservation will be charged the full amount of the rental.
What time should I arrive for my rental?
Please ensure that your rental contract has been filled out & submitted back. If this has been completed show up to designated marina 15 minutes prior to reservation.
What time can I start my rental?
Full Day Rentals are 10:00am-6:00pm
Morning Half Day Rentals are 9:00am-1:00pm
Afternoon Half Day Rentals are 2:00pm – 6:00pm
How long can I rent a boat?
Full Day Rental | 8 Hours
Half Day Rental | 4 Hours
Where do I find information to obtain a TN boating license?
Please refer to the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency website for information to obtain a TN boating license.
Do I need a license to operate a rental boat in TN?
We DO NOT require customers to have licensing. We would prefer that customers have previous boating experience and licensing if possible. Also customers must follow all federal & State guidelines concerning safe operation of the vessel.
Will there be a penalty for returning the boat late?
Yes, an additional $75 per half hour will be charged past the designated return time.
Is fuel provided by Erwin Boat Rentals?
The boat is full of fuel when the customer departs and will be refueled at the end of the rental at the customer’s expense. The amount of fuel will be deducted from deposit or customer can pay marina directly.
Will I be held responsible for damages to the boat?
Yes, rental customers are responsible for any and all damages to the boat during the time of the rental. Inspections will be made prior to departure and once returned.
May I lock through in order to go up or down stream?
No, locking through is not permitted. You must rent boat in desired area. If a boat is not available at that time, Erwin Boat Rentals will attempt to make arrangements.
Is towing of tubes or watersports allowed?
Towing of tubes and watersports is not permitted nor does Erwin Boat Rentals supply any tubes, ropes, or equipment.
Are pets allowed on the rental boats?
Yes, dogs under 25 lbs. are allowed. An additional $25 fee will be added to the rental. Also, Renter is responsible for any damages as a result of a pet on board.
Is smoking permitted on the boat?
No, smoking is not permitted on the boat. We strive to keep our rental boats in excellent condition for your best experience.
Can someone in my group other than the renter drive the boat?
Yes, but the designated renter with signed rental agreement will be held responsible for the vessel and any lost equipment or damages during rental period.
What is the age required to rent a boat?
25 with a valid state driver’s license.
What happens if the boat breaks down during my rental time?
Contact Erwin Boat Rentals immediately at 423-834-7778 for assistance.
Is alcohol allowed on the boat?
No alcohol is permitted on the boat. Boat operators must adhere to all state and local laws.
Must life jackets be worn at all times?
All children 12 years of age and younger are required to wear a Coast Guard approved PFD while on the open deck of a recreational boat except when anchored, moored, or aground. One wearable device of the appropriate size must be on board for each person in the boat or each person being towed. Erwin Boat Rentals recommends that PFDs be worn by everyone at all times.
What if bad weather cancels my reservation?
In case of severe weather prior to the reservation, Erwin Boat Rentals will reschedule if possible or refund the full rental amount at Erwin Boat Rentals’ discretion.
What if bad weather cuts my rental time short?
In the event that severe or unsafe weather cuts rental time short, the amount of the rental will be prorated based on time used at Erwin Boat Rentals’ discretion.
